DreamPower exists only because of the time, energy and commitment given freely by our amazing and wonderful volunteers. The first step in becoming a volunteer is to attend a New Volunteer Orientation. These are held once a month at DreamPower. At the New Volunteer Orientation you will learn about the DreamPower programs, learn about current volunteer opportunities, tour the facility and meet the DreamPower horses. The minimum age to volunteer is 14. No horse experience is required to volunteer at DreamPower, but we welcome and appreciate volunteers with solid horse experience.
For more information about internships at DreamPower, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (408) 686-0535. Internships are available for post-master’s pre-licensed psychotherapists who are working towards a California license to practice psychotherapy.
Mentoring is available for candidates working toward certification as a PATH International Registered Therapeutic Riding Instructor or Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning. To be accepted as TRI in Training or ESMHL in Training, the candidate must be willing to commit to volunteering at DreamPower for an extended period of time (minimum of one year) following completion of the certification. We are not able to provide TRI or ESMHL mentoring for candidates working in programs other than DreamPower.
