An experiential treatment approach involving unmounted and mounted horsemanship lessons, Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy is provided by the synergistic team of the horse and the therapeutic riding instructor, who is a licensed mental health professional. In the barn setting, therapeutic activities provide powerful tools for building self-awareness, self-esteem, appropriate boundaries and a sense of personal responsibility. Therapeutic interactions incorporate the power of the horse, the clinical skills of the therapist and the hopes, dreams and challenges of the person working with the horse.

DreamPower provides services to clients age 5 and up. Exceptions are occasionally made for younger children on a case-by-case basis. Clients of all shapes and sizes are welcome at Dreampower. However, our horses can only carry  up to 200 pounds so clients over 200 pounds will not ride during their sessions. Clients must be physically able to enjoy therapy in an outdoor barn setting. For example, severe allergies to hay or animals may restrict some people from participating. DreamPower cannot provide service to individuals who are actively dangerous to themselves or others, actively psychotic, medically unstable, actively substance abusing, have a history of fire-setting or animal abuse.
