On September 20, 2008 DreamPower benefited from the Calero Classic Endurance Ride, an AERC sanctioned event.  The distances were 50 miles, 25 miles and a shorter Fun Ride. Fifty percent of the event's profits were donated to DreamPower.

Base camp was at Calero County Park in San Jose.  Vet check and many of the trails were in the Rancho Canada del Oro Open Space Preserve. The race featured well-marked, beautiful trails, top notch vets, great awards and good food. There were also surprises during the day for riders.

DreamPower volunteer and endurance rider Lori Oleson gathered prize donations, hired the veterinarians, organized volunteers,  designed the course and confirmed logistics with park rangers in preparation for the event.

To date, Lori and her competitive endurance horse Rosie are ranked third in the West Region Featherweight Division, ninth overall in the West Region, and seventh nationally in the War Mare Division. When Lori and Rosie compete, they usually cover between 50 to 100 miles in each race.  Lori's other horse is Flame, and his career goal is 5000 endurance race miles. Flame has currently completed 4200 American Endurance Race Conference career miles.

DreamPower thanks our volunteer Lori for organizing this fundraiser. If you are interested in assisting Lori with future DreamPower events  e-mail lorioleson@hotmail.com.
